Maternal and neonatal 25-OH cholecalciferol (25-OH-CC) levels.

چکیده

We also studied this relation more than 30 years ago in 60 pairs of maternal and cord blood, and showed such a relation; ours was one of the first published studies on this subject2. Calcium, phosphorus, and alkaline phosphate levels were also assayed, and were repeated in babies of about one month of age. Maternal and cord 25-OH-CC levels were found lowest in winter months when compared to mothers who gave birth in the summer. Since 25-OH-CC levels were lowest in babies of about one month of age, 25-OH-CC deficiency in pregnant women in our region must be corrected without delay. To the Editor, Şinasi Özsoylu

Neonatal and Maternal 25-OH Vitamin D Serum Levels in Neonates with Early-Onset Sepsis

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is important for calcium metabolism and plays an important role in the immune functions. The aim of this study was to measure neonatal and maternal 25-OH vitamin D serum levels in neonates with early onset sepsis. The study included fifty neonates with early onset sepsis (25 full-term and 25 preterm infants) and thirty age and sex matched healthy neonates...

An observational study reveals that neonatal vitamin D is primarily determined by maternal contributions: implications of a new assay on the roles of vitamin D forms

BACKGROUND Vitamin D concentrations during pregnancy are measured to diagnose states of insufficiency or deficiency. The aim of this study is to apply accurate assays of vitamin D forms [single- hydroxylated [25(OH)D₂, 25(OH)D₃], double-hydroxylated [1α,25(OH)₂D₂, 1a25(OH)₂D₃], epimers [3-epi-25(OH)D₂, 3-epi-25(OH)D₃] in mothers (serum) and neonates (umbilical cord) to i) explore maternal and n...

PARTICIPANTS Seventy-eight women with singleton pregnancies with vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency (ser...

An evaluation of the effects of added vitamin D3 in maternal diets on sow and pig performance1,2

A total of 84 sows (PIC 1050) and their litters were used to determine the effects of supplementing maternal diet with vitamin D3 on sow and pig performance, serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH) D3), milk vitamin D3, neonatal bone mineralization, and neonatal tissue vitamin D3. After breeding, sows were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 dietary vitamin D3 treatments (1,500, 3,000, or 6,000 IU/kg of com...

Studies on Calciferol Metabolism

The administration of cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) (CC) to rachitic chicks results in the production of two major polar metabolites, 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25-OH-CC) and 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (1,25-diOH-CC), and a number of other minor metabolites. Eighteen hours after a physiological dose (0.65 mnoles) of radioactive cholecalciferol, 80% of the radioactivity in the target intestine...
